В Галерее современного искусства ГМИИ РТ стартует трехмесячный курс «Фотография: наследие и истории» о фотографической культуре, истории и теории. Он будет посвящен историографии фотографии и подходам к изучению фотографии преимущественно с помощью обращения к конкретным исследовательским проектам. Курс задуман как введение в область фотографических исследований и построен на междисциплинарных темах, чтобы рассмотреть широко используемые теоретические основы и классические тексты о различных социальных и культурных практиках. В лекциях и семинарах будет уделено внимание канонической и социальной историям фотографии, ключевым теориям, художественным и вернакулярным практикам. В рамках встреч участники курса прочтут, обсудят и проанализируют работы о фотографии российских и зарубежных авторов.

Лекторы:
Гил Пастернак - профессор в Исследовательском Центре истории фотографии в Университете Де Монтфорт (Великобритания). Исследования Гила Пастернака опираются на его прошлый профессиональный опыт в качестве фотожурналиста, фотохудожника, преподавателя фотографии и архивиста фотографии. Его основные публикации посвящены историографии фотографии, а также индивидуальному и публичному использованию личных, любительских, архивных и оцифрованных фотографий в зонах конфликтов. Среди недавно опубликованных книг под его авторством и редакцией: “The Handbook of Photography Studies” (Routledge 2020), “Visioning Israel-Palestine: Encounters at the Cultural Boundaries of Conflict” (Bloomsbury 2020) и специальный выпуск журнала “Photography & Culture” под названием “Photographic Digital Heritage in Cultural Conflicts” (2021).
Рамина Абилова – кандидат исторических наук, старший научный сотрудник, хранитель фонда фотографии Государственного музея изобразительных искусств Республики Татарстан. Ведет кураторскую и преподавательскую деятельность, связанную с историей и теорией фотографии. Исследовательские интересы посвящены историографии фотографии, семейным фотоальбомам, любительской фотографии, истории культуры. Научные статьи опубликованы в журналах “Ab Imperio”, “Photography & Culture”, «Труды Государственного Эрмитажа», «Эхо веков» и т.д.

Photography, Its Heritage and Histories
A three-month course on photographic cultures, histories and theories opens at the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art. Photography, Its Heritage and Histories will focus on photographic historiography and approaches to photographic research, mainly through examination of culturally-diverse seminal case studies. The course is intended as an introduction to the research field of photography studies, and will draw as such on multidisciplinary subjects in order to consider widely-used theoretical frameworks and classical texts about distinct social and cultural practices. Lectures and seminars will revolve around themes such as, canonical, social and culturally-specific histories of photography; prominent theoretical trajectories; and artistic as well as vernacular practices. As part of the sessions, participants will read, discuss and analyse a selected range of photographic scholarship by Russian and foreign authors.

Lecturers:
Gil Pasternak is Professor of Photographic Cultures and Heritage in the Photographic History Research Centre (PHRC) at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom. Investigating intersections of photography with politics and cultural heritage practices, much of his research draws on his past professional experience as photojournalist, fine art photographer and photography archivist. Alongside writings on photographic historiography, his key publications focus on individual and public deployments of personal, amateur, archival and digitized photographs in zones of conflict. Most recently he published the edited books The Handbook of Photography Studies (Routledge 2020), and Visioning Israel–Palestine: Encounters at the Cultural Boundaries of Conflict (Bloomsbury 2020) as well as a special issue of the journal Photography & Culture, titled “Photographic Digital Heritage in Cultural Conflicts” (2021).
Ramina Abilova – PhD in History (Candidate of Historical Sciences), Senior Researcher, Curator of Photography at the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. She conducts curatorial and teaching activities devoted to the history and theory of photography. Her research interests are dedicated to the historiography of photography, family photo albums, amateur photography, cultural history. She published scholarly articles in the journals Ab Imperio, Photography & Culture, Echo of centuries, Transactions of the State Hermitage, etc.
